This year has been a particularly bizarre one for the Dawson Robotics Team. Due to the novel Corona Virus, we have had to overcome the adversity of not as active in person as we usually are. Therefore, this year has taken a very design heavy perspective from the start of the competition up until the schools were open. This struggle of being online for such a lengthy period of time led to the issues of being able to participate in group work since design is a difficult concept for all of our new recruits who did not have a platform of design to begin with. But through lengthy hours and a bit of practice, our new recruits have learnt the basics of the model software AutoCAD.
While we are now able to be in school, rigorous health measures have been self-implicated in the lab to maximize our efficiency and abilities to build a robot in such a short period of time.
Another struggle we have encountered and are currently in the process of overcoming is the design flaws from our months of planning. This was an inevitable outcome since, as we all know, theory translated is always met with human error and unplanned design flaws that are only actualized while prototyping.
All in all though, even through our struggles have created mini road-blocks, we have the strength and will power to overcome any block that comes our way.
